Promotional Quests are necessary to advance your characters to their
full potential. Although, theoretically one could finish the game
without ever performing any of these quests, it would be very difficult.
Without promotions your spell casters will never attain their true potential,
which can be devastating indeed to your enemies, not to mention the power
of the protective spells some spell casters are capable of. If you
are not the sort to hold with magic and you intend to run through the game
with tanks such as knights, then you would still be doing them an injustice.
At Grandmaster levels these character types could plow through any enemy
in less time than it takes to sneeze.
Promotional quests should be performed for your character class at
the earliest opportunity. I have even done these quests delaying
the essential ones. This gave my characters the advantage when completing
other quests, fighting & spell casting skills were improved to
Master levels in many areas, allowing them to breeze through some otherwise
harrowing situations.
You do not need to limit these quests to just your class types,
but can perform any or all. The advantages are of course the experience
you gain & in some cases very nice items are to be had.
