Wizardry 8 Walk-Through
Northern Wilderness
The Northern Wilderness is simply a roadway to other locations. It has a couple of item-heavy locations (the ruins and the lake's island) and a nice waterfall but it's the two bridges - one leading to the Umpani Base Camp and the other to the Mountain Wilderness - that are important. For now take the metal, northern bridge to the Base Camp.

Umpani Base Camp

Speak with the private outside and then enter the fort. Head north down the street and enter the west building (recruiter and barracks). The barracks is a nice source for items but most of the lockers and chests are locked or trapped. Now check out the east building where you can buy a flag for the Z'Ant's first quest at the Commissary. Return to Z'Ant in Lower Marten's Bluff to gain your reward for the flag and get your next mission.

Marten's Bluff
Your second T'Rang mission is to kill a Rapax Assassin. Take the elevator pad up to Marten's Bluff. If you don't have the Rapax Perfume in your inventory go to the Swamp and buy/steal it from Crock; return when done. From the elevator pad enter the castle and take an immediate right and swing around into the side room with the squisher mechanism. There is a lever here with a red icon it - click on it to drop the dummy from the ceiling in the entry room. Now go to the dummy and "use" the perfume on it to attract the assassin. Move inside the castle (south). Just to the west of the glass door is a control panel. Click on it to close the glass door. Now move back in to the squisher room and wait for the Rapax to arrive. When he shows up click on the control panel next to the lever to squish him. Go back into the entry and recover his head as a trophy. Take it to Z'Ant for your reward. Your next mission will take you to Arnika.

Back in Arnika And Then Return To Lower Marten's Bluff
Once back in Arnika head north to the Hologram House. Speak interactively and give the invitation. Then enter the Mook's Place and speak with Screg. Head west and switch the fake Astral Dominae (you're still carrying it, right?) with the real Chaos Moliri. If you do it right the guards won't attack. Walk out whistling and then conduct any other business you care to in Arnika. When done head back to Z'Ant in Lower Marten's Bluff. Report and get your reward and next mission. You're heading to the ocean for a pleasant "vacation." Go the Swamp and then head north. Take the route to Bayjin (shown as Sea Caves on the map).
