Little did I know what I was headed for back when I last edited this page. That was a temporary illness by comparisson. Let's hope I don't need to take any more extended leaves. I am back to fiddling around and playing a bit. Some folks at the IGN Boards already knew this and I thank each and every one of them for their warm welcome at my return. It means more to me than you can imagine.

Cancer is a terrifying foe. It also opens our eyes to things we tend to take for granted, like friendship. Friendship means a great deal to those of us who have stared in the eyes of eternity because we have learned than when it comes right down to it, that is really all there is.. the love of family and friends. So know that you all have a very special place in my heart now and forever more.

I have added some new downloads to the Mod News so jump over and have a look. The Christian Coder's Mod and the new Demo of Fuego Star's coming mod.

I am feeling better after an extended illness and I am trying to update the Mod News page with as many of the new mods that were released during my absence. Please let me know if I missed anyone's mods.

November 28, 2004
Using Mad God's editor I created a mini-mod which altered or created a few new items for the game. Anyone wishing to beta test this mod may do so at their own risk. Simply download the FlameMod.zip file (see Mod News for download) and follow the instructions in the readme file. Please let me know what you think of it and if there are any problems.

Ok. Since most items recevied only 1 or 2 entries in the Item Design Contest I'm just declaring them all Winners! The coding needed for so many pages of items isn't worth the time I need to spend on it under these circumstances. So all item entries now bear the name of the person who designed them.  I personally enjoyed reading each and every design and got a kick out the humorous entries and those that mimicked other items from the SciFi/Fantasy realm.

Furthermore, I intend to keep the Contest open so to speak. You can now view the items from the Item Index. It has an Index of its own, "Unused Items". Some items still have no entries so I hope folks will still use the forms and make entries for these or any other that strikes your fancy. The forms are available at the top of the Unused Items Index.

The spells of Armorplate, Elemental Shield, Magic Screen, and Soul Shield now contain charts of how much resistance is increased per spell level. Thanks go to vn_pers for the experimentation that led to this discovery.

Re: Item Design Contest

To make a long story short I recently had appendicitis. Unfortunately for me I am very pain tolerant and my immune system works in mysterious ways so my appendix had actually been ruptured for around 10 days give or take a few before they actually discovered I had appendicitis. During those days it was all I could do to get out of bed for a few minutes each day since I was so tired and feverish. I was thinking I probably had the flu or something and rest was a good thing. I spent a few days in the hospital after it was removed and came home feeling ready to take on the world. Between running to doctors for follow up appointments and trying to rest up a bit I haven't had much time to work on the voting forms.

A severe bout of bronchitis has now followed on the heels of this unusual occurrence, I guess my immune system fought so hard against the infection from the rupture that it was ill prepared for this. I may have to return to the hospital in a couple days and am currently very tired and not able to muster the energy to do much of anything.

I will work on the voting forms as I can and will post a new voting date once they are completed and have been tested. In the meantime new entries will be accepted but may not be posted as quickly as before. All entries received will appear in time for the voting when all is ready.

Scary/Stegyre has provided us with Import information for Characters and Items. This informations provides details on class attributes and skill import calculations. The item pages list the "Import Value" of items with relation to how many of each level will import to W8. All known importable items are listed on the charts. These have been formatted for Print on this site. View the Import Index to view the new additions.

New Contest! I have seen some really good imaginations at work out there fantasizing about quests and so forth so let's put that to work. Wizardry 8 has some items in its graphics library that are never seen in the game, or if they are seen some one else has them or there is no use for them. Now is your chance to put them use, if only for our own enjoyment. Check out the new Item Design Contest

April 25, 2004
Well after careful consideration I decided to create a character and party building section. It started to take on a life of its own so I had to curb it and place restrictions upon the beast before it ran out of control. It is not my intent to suggest or convey any specific way to develop a profession or choose what race might be best for any given profession. I made a few suggestions which may surprise a few and cause others to scoff, but hey, don't knock it 'til you try it. You can view the new additions by selecting the Character Dev Index then using the Character Building and Party Building links.

April 20, 2004
The profession pages have been updated to include rank titles and some comments about the profession.

April 19, 2004
New Quest Item pages added. All quest item pages have been updated to include a little more specific quest relation information.

Some images contained in the data.slf file were not used in the game but their names indicate they were intended for specific items in the game. They look quite interesting and I decided to add them to the individual items pages where they applied.  The image as we see in the game is to the left while the alternate image will be to the right of the item name. Use the Individual Item Index and locate the categories of each item listed below to view the graphical additions:

Bascinet & Camail: Armor, Headgear
Faerie Cap: Armor, Headgear
Gossamer Gown (U): Armor, Torso
Doublet, Chamail +2: Armor, Torso
Doublet, Oliveskin: Armor, Torso
Doublet, Suede: Armor, Torso
Short Bow: Weapons, Bow
Shuriken: Weapons, Thrown
Spiked Boots: Armor, Footwear
Spirit Staff: Weapons, Staffs & Wands

April 16, 2004
Adding a new section to the site for Annotations.

New Contest with rewards! Well the rewards may or may not impress anyone but I thought it was time to run a contest that "gave something back" to the participants. I just hope you honor the restrictions so once you have completed it you'll have a true sense of accomplishment. So how well do you know your NPCs/RPCs hmmmm?

April 3, 2004
All the quest pages have now been updated. There is a set of pages outlining the quests and another set of spoiler pages giving detailed instructions on how to completed the quests. Each set of pages has their own printable page as well.

Later in the evening:

A new section containing individual pages on some quest items not already present on the site has been added. Find the new link to Quest Items under the Item Menu.

April 1, 2004
As I said, no foolin' ands now the PD Contest entries are in!

Later this day:

Miscellaneous Quests has been updated. The Individual Item page for the sword Stinger has also been updated, it seems there is a way to get this item from the game.

March 31, 2004
Due to circumstances beyond my control I have been offline since March 14th. All PD Contest entrants rest assured I will be working toward getting the downloads up no later than April 1st, no foolin'!

I was able to create a few new web pages during this absence. Spell books now have individual Item Pages which includes the Artifact Skill levels required to Identify them.

Also an NPC locator page was suggested and that is now in place.

February 10, 2004
Some corrections to the Monster pages (Mountain Sprite) and related Individual Item pages have been made. It seems they DO NOT have a Treasure Drop. Thanks to Melita from the IGN message board for making me aware of this.

The Rapax Warlocks, at least the third on the list of Rapax, has a Treasure drop of 1d2(1-2) rather than 1d1 as previously indicated. Perhaps the others do as well, it is unknown at this time. Thanks again to ferro287 for this and all the corrections submitted over some time now. ferro287 has been very diligent in bringing matters in need of correction to my attention. Its been like having my own personal editor and ferro287 deserves a hearty Thank You for all the assistance. I truly appreciate it.

February 6, 2004
Scroll individual pages are now in.

February 5, 2004
Updated the Consumables Print List to include Razor Cloak. Discovered the omission early while creating the Individual Item pages for Consumables which are also now all in place on the site and ready for viewing. I will be getting to Scrolls soon, hopefully in a day or two.

January 1, 2004
Main menu changed in respect to the Theme Contest link. There is now a Contests Link leading to an index of contests. The Theme contest games are still up for downloading but we have a new addition for the newest contest on Party Development. Check it out. It might be fun. Seems there's a spark of interest for participating in contests so it deserves its own menu.

November 29, 2003
Since I am unable to bypass the incompatibility between the Tree Menu and the new server software protection protocols I have eliminated the Tree Menu and returned to standard HTML menu formats. They may be a little more difficult to navigate but at least it will not prevent access to the site as has been the case now for a time. Please accept my apologies and as soon as I find a way to bypass or the Tree Menu is updated to be compatible with new server protection protocols I will return to using the Tree Menu structure.

As soon as the data is all compiled into a neat little Excel Page Item Individual pages will be updated and more will be completed. Thanks for your patience folks!

Later in the day
The Drop List is completed and all individual item pages have been updated.

September 8, 2003

Well it looks like Individual Items got put on hold again. New Monster Information complete with Dropped Items for each have just come to my attention. A Japanese fan site had a very comprehensive Monster Table which gator had discovered and spent time translating. The "About Monsters" load page explains the new information and Androids is now completed and up for viewing. I will be working on the other Monsters shortly.

Due to this new information the Chest/Drop List Explanation page has been overhauled and contains new information. The Drop List will also be updated as each Monster category is completed.

Other minor updates include additional Monster Drops added to the Drop List and Treasure Lists to reflect these new drops.

All floating frame pages have been reformatted. New browsers were not displaying the frame properly. If you visited these pages and found the widow half off the page and unviewable it should now be corrected.

August 30,2003
The Chest List is again revised. It now links to Treasure Lists for each Chest. A Drop List is in the making similar to the Chest List and will also link to Treasure Lists. Please read the Chest & Drop List Explained page for a better understanding of these lists and the Treasure Lists. A printable Level Sensor Value chart was also added.

A few other pages have had corrections or additions.

  • Alchemy Recipes: Creating a Cure Poison Potion requires 15 skill not 30 as previously posted.
  • The Filcher's Band was added to the Misc. Equippable Items print list
  • Some Maps now have additional references due to the Chest List revision

One addition to the Umpani Quest pages.

Added a Thank You page.

I know I'm really behind the times by putting up a Wizardry 8 web site so long after its release. After many requests, and from  visits to message boards, I discovered I may be late but there are still many newcomers to Wizardry. So I was finally convinced to get my rear in gear and do something constructive. (And yes there was a pun intended. <grin>)

Those of you visiting from the IGN Message Boards know me as "Lanastashia", but never realized I was Flamestryke. I recognized a few of you though. <wink> The site is far from complete at this point. I intend to do Walkthru & Strategy pages for most of the maps. I also intend to do a complete item list with the stat info and graphics, but also include where the items can be found. Currently there are printable item lists in the Item Menu which are, I hope, as complete as possible, even including some items that have not been found in the game but exist in the game code.

Also any one who has a decent Mythology skill could give me a hand if they'd be willing, I'd like to have as comprehensive Monster stat pages as possible.   We don't get a whole lot of info on monsters, but what there is of it can be very useful when determining how to attack or defend against your foes. Just drop me a quick email. If enough folks would be willing to help compile a comprehensive list I could make a printout sheet that would make gathering the info a bit easier.

As with all my MM sites, feel free to contact me about any errors you find on the pages or requests of info you'd like to see at the site. Also feel free to email requests for assistance. I try to check my email a couple times a day and usually respond within 24 hours. However you may wish to visit the Links page which contains a link to the IGN Spoiler Board where I have been hanging out and the folks there are really great at answering questions thoroughly and quickly. They're a great group!
