This is all based on Karlmarx's post:

His information seems pretty accurate and detailed so I'm using it as a basis for the following information.

I've only done the Fighter at the moment (Since he's the easiest to do and hey, I love Fighters Of course most people would agree that STR is the most important stat for a Fighter.

Next important in my opinion would be Speed. While Dex helps with to hit and more attacks per round, Speed helps with Initiative, AC, number of attacks per round and number of swings per attack. Afterwards of course would come Dex since Fighters have such high HP's anyways and with their STR carrying capacity shouldn't be a problem. Then comes Vitality and then Senses.

With all of that in mind I have come to the following conclusions:

Needed stats for Fighter: STR 55 VIT 50 DEX 50

First field is race obviously, second is Bonus Points at creation, and third is the max number of points you can put into 2 stats and the last number is the max number of points you can place in a third stat.

Human 40 14/12
Elf 25 9/7
Dwarf 45 15
Gnome 40 14/12
Hobbit 40 14/12
Faerie 10 4/2
Lizard 50 17/16
Dracon 60 20
Felpurr 30 10
Rawulf 35 12/11
Mook 40 14/12

Stats before bonus points:

STR SPD DEX VIT SEN
Humun 55 45 50 50 45
Elf 55 45 50 50 40
Dwarf 55 35 50 60 35
Gnome 55 30 50 50 45
Hobbit 55 50 55 50 50
Faerie 55 60 50 50 45
Lizard 60 50 50 70 30
Dracon 55 40 50 60 30
Felpurr 55 60 50 50 50
Rawulf 55 40 50 50 50
Mook 55 35 50 50 55

Stats after bonus points:

Human 69 59 62 50 45
Elf 64 54 57 50 40
Dwarf 70 50 65 60 35
Gnome 69 44 62 50 45
Hobbit 69 64 67 50 50
Faerie 59 64 52 50 45
Lizard 77 67 66 70 30
Dracon 75 60 70 60 30
Felpurr 65 70 60 50 50
Rawulf 67 52 61 50 50
Mook 69 49 62 50 55

Exp level at which stat would max out:

Human 12 15 24 32 43
Elf 13 17 28 33 48
Dwarf 11 18 23 31 45
Gnome 12 20 24 37 43
Hobbit 12 13 23 30 39
Faerie 15 13 31 30 49
Lizard 9 12 20 22 44
Dracon 10 15 20 28 43
Felpurr 13 11 26 28 43
Rawulf 12 17 25 34 42
Mook 12 18 24 35 39

That would mean the Lizardman is not actually the best Fighter out there. The Hobbit (Believe it or not) and the Mook make the best Fighters.

In order:
Hobbit
Mook
Rawulf
Human
Gnome
Dracon
Felpurr
Lizardman
Dwarf
Elf
Faerie

The Lizardmans low senses really brings him down the totem pole. However, I don't find Senses as important to the Fighter than his other stats, like Str, Spd or Dex. I find Vit and Senses to be very close for the Fighter in terms of importance. Max senses would give you 20 intiative, and 5 attack rating and to hit. While this is nice I think it's more important to get Str, Spd, Dex and Vit maxxed as soon as possible, which would make the Lizardman the prime choice.

Taking senses out of the picture the ideal race for Fighter from best to worst:

Lizardman
Dracon
Felpurr
Hobbit
Faerie
Dwarf
Human
Elf
Rawulf
Mook
Gnome

That would mean as we all thought, the Lizardman is still the best Fighter with the Dracon and Felpurr coming in second. The Hobbit is still up there coming in 3rd (Since Dracon and Felpurr are tied for second.)

In conclusion if you're out to try and max all of your important stats (If you're willing to play until level 39) then the Hobbit is for you since he maxxes out his first 4 stats before the Mook, although they both end up maxxing out all stats at 39.

If you don't find senses all that important then the Lizardman is still the top choice.

This is all based solely on stats of course. If you find having better resistances against a particular realm or Dwarven Damage resistance more important than go for it. They all work out pretty well.

If I have time and if there is any interest I'll get around to doing the other classes, I only have so much time to kill at work

I pumped my Lizard's Senses & Spd to 50 - 55 before moving onto STR and VIT. It makes a HUGE difference. Sure STR maxes out a little later, but you don't need PowerStrike for a long time. I'm actually tempted to restart this party and ditch her shield for another weapon, a sword class hopefully, and dump the shield points into dual wield...but I doubt I will.

Question for yas then. Assuming you have everything but senses maxed, do you still get 6 points/level, and can you then put them all into that one stat, or do you need to plan ahead and always be putting a few points into senses so you don't have a bunch of wasted points.

Hmm, if you understand what I'm trying to say, bonus points to you

I know whatcha mean Spydah, and the answer to your question is yes, you still get 6 points per level but you can only put 3 points in any stat. But the extra 3 points won't necessarily be wasted because you can still put points into Int which would help your Close and Ranged Combat skills.

You'll never be able to max all of the stats, just the 4 most important ones and if you really wanted to a fifth one, but not all seven

I made the same calculations, but I choosed Str, Dex and Sen as important. That gave me Hobbit and Mook as the best fighters with even scores. To find out a winner I threw in Int. The Mook won and my Fighter now is Mook.

I don't think Vit is so important, because anyway Fighter has almost doubled hit points if you compare him/her to the other party members. They will die first.
Date Posted: 12/17 11:56pm Subject: RE: Best races for different classes If you are talking a toe-to toe fighter, I can't argue with your reasoning. However, in terms of being of max benifit to the party, I go with the Dracon every time. That breath weapon has saved my butt enough times to make a believer out of me. And it grows in strength every level no matter how often you use it, with out ever putting a point into it. 2 high-level Dracs in combo with a mage's fireball and priests web can flambe a lot of mobs without ever taking a lick of damage. My last party had both a Liz and a Drac fighter, and at level 10 the Drac had almost double the kills of the Liz.

The thread inspired me to do some analysis of my own.

According to your previous analysis, and taking into account only the relevant stats, the total number of stat points is:

Fighter (STR+SPD+DEX+VIT+SEN+Bonus):
Human 285
Elf 265
Dwarf 280
Gnome 270
Hobbit 300
Faerie 270
Lizard 310
Dracon 295
Felpurr 295
Rawulf 280
Mook 285

Lizards are the way to go, but check out #2... Hobbits! Which confirms the previous analysis. Dracons suffer a penalty to divine and mental, and felpurr to water. I'd rather have a character paralyzed than insane. The breath thing of the Dracons is a non-issue for me, since it does not improve any skill when used

Samurai (SPD+DEX+STR+SEN+VIT+Bonus):
Human 275
Elf 260
Dwarf 255
Gnome 270
Hobbit 285
Faerie 270
Lizard 280
Dracon 275
Felpurr 280
Rawulf 255
Mook 280

Hobbit Samurai is the way to go. Lizards turn out surprisingly good, but the penalties to Divine and Mental drop them a spot to 4th. Cats don't like water, so they drop to 3rd. Mooks stay on 2nd.

Bishop (INT+PIE+SPD+VIT+SEN+Bonus):
Human 275
Elf 275
Dwarf 250
Gnome 270
Hobbit 275
Faerie 280
Lizard 245
Dracon 250
Felpurr 270
Rawulf 270
Mook 255

Faeries rule (doh!). Humans/Elves/Hobbits share 2nd place. Humans have no resists, so they'd drop to 3rd place in this case.

Hobbits are back in Wiz8 with a vengeance. They're the most well-rounded race in the game, with above-average stats on everything. Whatever profession you choose, you can't go wrong with a Hobbit. I'll have to try a Hobbit Valkyrie!

I never played Hobbits in other RPGs. It seems I'm going to have a 6-Hobbit party in Wiz 8, though
