Importing: Item Basics
|
|
Chief credit for item transfer rules goes to Vplastas at the softwarespecialties
board. She(?) herself acknowledged she was standing on the shoulders
of others, so this has been very much a community effort. |

The following theory is not perfect, but it is the best theory currently
known for explaining what items from CODS will import with a party into
W8. |
|
All CODS items can be divided into one of four categories (1, 2, 3
& 4). |
|
Category 4 items NEVER import. Generally, these are items that
do not exist in W8 (such as puzzle items: the fountain coins, fun
house items, etc.) or powerful items that were probably too imbalancing
if a beginning party was allowed to import them (Muramasa Blade, The Avenger,
etc.). Just don't bother about these items. You will never
import them. If an item is not mentioned herein, it is safe to assume
it is a "4." |
|
Category 3 items are the "super" items - relatively speaking.
Each character may import ONE - and only one - "3." |
|
Category 2 items are "special." Each character may import two
"2s." Please note that you do NOT get an extra "2" if you don't take
a "3." (This is something on which Vplastas and I disagree.) |
|
Category 1 items are "normal." Characters can import all they
want, within reason. (There are limits: try loading up all
20 slots on each character in CODS with normal weapons and importing; you
will see that you do not start with your own Arms of Argus.) |
