Fighter

Fighters are the best overall combatants in all of Wizardry 8. While
they have no magic, their high hit points and strength make them effective
shock troops. Their intense training allows them to knock out opponents
with a single hit and keeps them going long after their comrades have fallen.
Their uncanny ability to fight also allows them to go berserk in combat
- a frenzied state that allows to do double damage, but leaves them more
vulnerable to attack themselves. Fighters can wear almost all armor and
use most weapons. |

Additinal Info: The Berserk Attack ability has its drawbacks and its
benefits. The obvious benefit is that it does double damage to the opponent.
The drawbacks are that the Fighter will miss more often and will be hit
more often while using the Berserk Attack. Skill in Close Combat, Dual
Weapons (if you are using a weapon in each hand), and the Weapon of choice
help to reduce the missing. Attaining heavier armor, gaining the expert
skill of Iron Skin, and even equipping shields help to reduce the amount
of damage taken by being hit more often. |

*The Fighter will start with one of two weapons dependent upon the
related skill. Normally these skills start even and it defaults to the
Longsword. In order to get the Battle Axe the Axe skill must be raised
at least 1 point higher than Sword Skill. |
