I got one word for you, Senses. Now I got two words for you, Eagle
Eye. That's all you need to know.
Seriously a Ranger's greatest advantage lies in three or four skills
depending on weapon choice. Ranged Combat, Bow, and/or Modern Weapon, and
the expert skill of Eagle Eye gained through maximum Senses. Concentration
on Senses should be a major factor of development for a Ranger along with
Dexterity, Strength, and Speed.
Good Dexterity will help your Ranger to build all weapon skills, regardless
of weapon choice. Strength will add to your Ranger's stamina as well as
increase damage output for Bow Skill. It can't hurt to be strong enough
to tote around plenty of ammunition, particularly when Speed is increased
and their number of attacks increase. A Ranger also gains the Alchemy skill
and developing it will require Dexterity.
In developing a Ranger's magical abilities keep in mind they can mix
potions as well as cast spells to increase the skill. Intelligence
can be left at its starting value unless the Ranger is slated to become
a major magic user for the party. If this is the case then Intelligence
will need to be developed.
The profession bonus of Ranged Criticals can be complimented by equipping
weapons and ammunition with a kill% bonus. Thus equipped, late in the game
when the Ranger is a practiced veteran the number of Instant Kills from
this bonus will astound you. |
