Thronheim City
|
Walkthru & Strategy
|
|
|
|
Of all the towns of Chedian
this one was the most unusual to navigate through. There are large gates
erected between city sections which are impassable. You need to navigate
through tunnels in the walls separating this city into its 3 sections.
|
|
|
|
Town portal always seems to bring
you in near the Tavern as opposed to where the actual Town Portal Stone
is located in the Temple of Ratatosk (5) across the plaza from the Jarl's
Palace. To reach the Jarl its actually quicker in many cases to exit the
City, circle south and return through the Town Gate by the Docks.
|
|
|
Here's a good example of the new
AI this game employs. If you walk near the Jail (1) a Desert Terror breaks
through the wall and goes on a killing spree batting the peasants senseless
and rampaging about the area. Several of these folks run to awaken the sleeping
town guards who in turn come to do battle with Terror. Little things like
this impress me. It made it "feel" more realistic, more like what it might
really be like in a situation like this. |
|
|
Depending on what level you are you
can choose to get involved or not. If you're little it would be best to
let the guards deal with the thing. You can just duck into its cell and
make use of the 2 stat barrels there.

Deliver a Message
If you step in the Tavern and speak to Dagfari the Peevish he will
ask you to deliver a message to the Temple of Ratatosk. He suggests your
welcome will not be a warm one if they figure out you are bringing this
message. Nothing untoward happened (unless this is the reason my Town Portal
dumps us at the gate) when we gave the message to Erland the Nay-sayer there.
Its pretty cut and dried, drop off the message and return to Dagfari for
your reward.

Hidden Treasures
Once you make your way to the Palace to speak to the Jarl you can make
a minor detour. Instead of heading to where Kira is standing turn to your
right as soon as you enter the Palace. Go to the end of the hall and climb
the stairs to the Library. As you enter continue forward and use the bookcase
on your right. It will swing open to reveal a ladder which takes you to
the companionway leading over to that tower situated in the center of the
plaza. There is a chest here which always had some pretty nice loot in
it every time we opened it.

|
|
She Loves, She Loves Me Not
When you do speak to Kira you can hand her that Love Letter from Strumford's
Jarl. Man sure has a poetic way about him. She will actually mention a
couple of the lines to you which are about as impressive as dirty wash water.
She'll let you know she isn't interested and you have to decide how best
to handle it when reporting back to Bjarni. Might I suggest the truth,
the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Gladiator Promotion
Fridlief Gjukissen is trying to play matchmaker for Bjarni by having you
steal Kira's shield. Bet you never thought when you wanted to grow up and
be a Gladiator you'd be be playing Cupid. The outfit does nothing for you.
Kira's shield leans up aqainst the wall near the doorway you enter to see
her. Just look to your left before you go visit Kira and there it is.

Ditch the Honkies
One of Kira's requests is that you get the Honkies out of Thronheim.
If you have chit chatted with the general populace you will already have
an idea just what to do. Its widely known the Dock Master here is not real
fond of the Honkies and would be willing to do just about anything to get
rid of them.
|
|
|
Just go out the Town Gate, have a
little chat with the Dock Master, tell him to take them to any one of
the places he mentions and then return to the city. Now all you need to
do is lure these 3 people out to the docks and the rest will be taken care
of.
|
|
|
One hangs out near the Town Hall,
the other two are near the Apothecary. Just lead them to believe you want
to learn more about the Great Honk and arrange for them to meet you and some
"other interested friends" at the docks. Once the last one leaves town you
should have the satisfaction of hearing the little quest completion "ding".
Return to Kira for your reward.

|
|
Bring Peace
After you have confronted the Jarls of Drangheim and Strumford over their
stupidity of going to war and gotten them to agree to sign a peace treaty
return here to Kira. She agrees to draw up the Peace Treaty and tells you
to have each of them come to the War Council and sign the treaty there.
Odd place to sign a Peace Treaty I know. Ho boy here we go again... Sure
glad we dusted off those Town Portal Stones.
