Thjorgard

Walkthru and Strategy

Thjorgard Map
Perception: 3
Lock Difficulty: 3
Trap Deadliness: 2
Treasure Level: 3
Creatures: Flying Ickys, Thieves, Gezzampts

By the time we got around to coming here not too many things living here were much of a threat. Gezzempts are camped out along the pass to the Thjorad Mines (6). Perhaps an elemental aura spell would be prudent if your party is still young. You will need to visit here to complete one of the Thjorgard Jarl's coalition quests.

Astral Ickys were flying sentinels about the Training Hall (5) Snorri the Fist mentions to you. You must look around it in order to discover how to get inside. You won't just waltz through the front door here. There is a ramp on the east side of building leading to the roof. After you traverse this head to the west side of the building and climb up to the next section. Circle back to the east side and bash out the wall in order to gain entry.

Thieves were camped out near the mountain south west of the Hall and launched an ambush (3) while on our way south through the pass heading to the western Town Gate.

Scholar Promotion

For the person performing the scholar quest you need to travel to the north east section of the map where the pass heads off to Frosgard. Near this pass you will see a Magreeb. It is quite harmless and normally runs off vanishing into the pass when the party draws near. All you have to do is actually see it in order to complete your quest. Just walk toward it until the quest completion "ding" occurs and it turns to flee.

As a side note after performing this quest once you return to the area there's a little show to watch. As you near the area a baby Magreeb comes leaping out of the little lake and attacks some Thieves nearby. Another set of thieves at the mouth of the pass are in turn attacked by another Magreeb who was standing there docilely until you happened along. Of course if you get too nosey and go in too close all parties are now more interested in you than each other. That magreeb sure makes short work of those Thieves though. It was nice to watch them go down in one or two blows for a change.

Prize for Yrsa's Daughter

After you have managed to form the coalition and done everything necessary to get the War Council to meet for the first time Yrsa will pop in on you and tell you to go to "The Thing" in Thjorgard and win her daughter a prize. The Gathering (4) here is where she means.

You need to win all 6 games here to get the prize. It turns out to be one of those little stuffed dragons Markel the Great had a display of in the Town Hall of Guberland. Once you get the cute little thing you need to take it to Bikki Yrsadotir standing just outside Thronheim's north Town Gate.

When I got to Thjorgard the only place left we had not been to was Thronheim and Frosgard. I get antsy when having to wait about on ships so we struck off northerly in search of other areas rather than wait the 4 days until a ship was due. The Frosgard pass is 8 days to traverse so the Mountain Pass started looking real enticing with only a 3 day travel time. Little did we know.

It will eventually get you to Thronheim and actually completes a quest before you get it. If like me you hadn't been to Thronheim yet. Kira the Cold, Jarl of Throheim wants you to find this pass and see if it still links up with Thjorgard. Guess what, it does.
