There is no real city here in
Lindisfarne. Most of the shops and services are boarded up. This
area is always being raided, so I guess most everyone hot-footed it out
of town. You can however find a General Store, Inn, and Magic Shop
in the town (2).
|
|
|
|
There is no Town Portal Stone here so
its wise to use a Llyod's Beacon as soon as you are able so travelling here
will be easier and less time consuming. |
|
|
There are a few Quests that bring you
to this area, but all of them are performed in a sub map of this region.
The only thing to discuss here is getting past the obstacles to complete
these quests.
|
|
|
If you come seeking the book, War Rules,
for the Guberland Jarl, you need to head on up to the Ta'sar Academy (3).
The only real encounter you will have is right in front of the Academy itself.
A few Thrall Masters have camped practically on the doorstep. Depending
on what level you are when you try this it shouldn't be too difficult to
get past them.
|
|
|
There are several different reasons
you may be headed to the Monastery (4). Priest Promotion, Paladin Promotion,
looking for a relic to appease a Jarl, seeking to summon a dragon, what ever
brings you here, you will need to deal with Magreebs and Thrall Masters.
|
|
|
There are plenty of perches along the
way you can clamor up onto if you find fighting these creatures difficult.
The Thralls can still do you harm with their ranged attack, but the magreebs
turn into sitting ducks. You just need to move quickly and manage to get
up some of the cliff faces in order to use this to your advantage. Enrage
on Thrall Masters is quite useful and can give you breathing room to heal
up and catch your breath.
|
|
|
There is one camp of Thralls by the
cook pot nearest the Monastery that is a bit difficult to navigate past.
If your party is a lower level you may want to dig up scrolls of enrage,
curse, bless, and faith. Fortunately these scrolls seemed to be dropped
by many monsters before my party reached this map so we had a good supply
to work with.

For those of you who bring relatively
low level characters to this area, avoid the the pass that leads to the
Dragon Cave (5) and the cauldron. This area is guarded by Evil Sorcerers
and their Apprentices. If you intend to try your hand at these guys be prepared.
Use Elemental Aura if possible. It greatly reduces the amount of damage you'll
receive. Note: Once you have summoned the Dragon this cave is definitely
not for the faint of heart. The Dragon is a true Mega Dragon and it takes
a lot of preparation and character development in order to over come it.
Be prepared!
|
|
|
Also watch out for that spell they
have that knocks you back. We got to the bend right by the Dragon Cave
and one of them nailed us with that spell. We went shooting up the cliff
and got wedged in a crevice. No matter what I tried the party was stuck
but good. I finally had to restart from my previous save. Which luckily
was only a few feet away and no real progress was lost.
|
|
|
So save frequently when dealing with
these guys. I had to run back down the passage a bit many times to get the
lock off the party just to be able to save, but as it turned out, the extra
time and effort paid off.

There are no real quests originating
in this map, but if you chat with the folks who live here you'll find out
they get raided by Chedians frequently. Once you travel to Thjorgard
there is a raider there you can speak to and try to convince him to stop
raiding Lindisfarne. Its one of those "touchy feely" things that makes
those of us with soft hearts feel better for doing a good deed. *smiles*
