Walkthru & Strategy

Inventa Storca Map
Perception: 7
Lock Difficulty: 7
Trap Deadliness: 4
Treasure Level: 4
Creatures: Basilisks, Flying Ickys, Liches, Skeletons, Thieves

There are a few nice items hidden away here. Be sure to look for books protruding from the bookcases. These are secret switches (S) that open compartments nearby. There are also skeletons in the bottom of the water filled area (2) here that conceal items. The exit from this area is difficult to navigate. Its a pretty small opening and you will have trouble angling the party up and out of it to dry ground. Be on the watch for ambushes (3). They come through the ceiling and the walls at you.

Collect the Orbs of Linking

Your objective is to collect 6 of the 7 Orbs of Linking from here. Other than the Liches you won't have too much difficulty. If anyone can cast a reasonably high Turn Undead spell this will be a cake walk. Just cast the spell and run the liches down. You normally face only one at time just try to keep them confined in the room where you first encounter them and don't let them run out to an adjoining room where another Lich may lie in wait.

Either direction you choose to go you will need to use the trap door (1) by the ladder to make progress. Coming at it from underneath its pretty obvious but coming at it from the top it can be a tad difficult to spot if your perception isn't up to snuff.

Once you have all 6 orbs (you can pick up the 7th but its of little or no use to you at this time) just go to the banks of Chedian and speak to the Bankers at each. They will all be very happy to have you install them. Once all 6 are installed you receive a nice little boon and all you pack rats will now be able to free up pack space so you can pack rat more stuff. Of course I wouldn't know about such things. *whistles innocently and avoids eye contact*

Hanndl's Spear

If you have been to Arslegard and spoken to Hanndl the Gatekeeper, you will know he is such a grouch because he has lost his spear, Gungnir. The Black Chest here contains Handl's Spear. The chest is hidden under a trapped floor panel. You should throw both switches in the room to get to it. One deactivates the trap, the other opens the secret floor compartment. Once you have the spear you are free to return it to Hanndl or use it for yourself. It is a pretty nice weapon and if you do not have anything comparable just yet you may want to hang on to it for a bit.

Strategy Variation

I was able to lure most of the liches to the trap door and hang out on the ladder. They cast all manner of diminishing spells (curse and dark grasp), but they don't cause any damage at distance, allowing you to finish them off in real or turn mode. (it's tedious at low levels, but definitely doable at anything above 8-9). There are other liches harder to lure, but near them are other places to stand out of reach.
